Welcome to Toronto’s soft-embalmed full body dissection course!

Join us for a 5 or 10 day, full body Cadaver Dissection Class in Toronto, where students develop practical dissection skills, anatomical knowledge, and a comprehensive three-dimensional understanding of the human body.

One soft-embalmed cadaver will be dissected by each group (of four to six). Dissections will be performed under instructor supervision. Dissection skills are developed throughout the course. All dissection planning will be undertaken by the students within each dissection group, then approved by the instructors. Each student will have an opportunity to investigate areas of their own clinical interest. Instructors in our Cadaver Dissection Class in Toronto will ensure feasible, efficient, and safe dissections.

Unlike traditional methods, our Cadaver Lab in Toronto uses soft-embalmed cadavers, as standard preservation protocols (formaldehyde) produce rigid limbs and joints, and thus fail to adequately represent the living human body. Soft-embalmed cadavers retain natural tissue integrity, texture, and joint mobility. They simulate the fresh state where the liquids are still intact within the tissues while allowing for ease of exploratory dissection. This course is a unique opportunity to practice clinical palpation and mobilization techniques on cadavers that look and feel the same way as a live patient’s body. These learning experiences are expected to directly improve therapeutic outcomes.

Each morning, a group session discusses what will be happening that day and reflects on the experiences of the previous session. Faculty will lead dissections at various points, and special guest lecturers will give short presentations on their specialist subject as it relates to the day’s project.

All dissection courses held at our Cadaver Lab in Toronto are open to Acupuncturists, Osteopaths, Massage Therapists, bodyworkers, or other suitably qualified or experienced practitioners.
